🍐#117: Dev tool ads gallery, mechanical keyboard swag idea, and a CISO toy store

Read at your own...

Hey,

Don’t do this enough but I probably should caveat that you read this newsletter and follow my advice at your own pearil🍐 ;)

This week on the agenda:

  • Dev tool ads examples gallery from Reo.dev

  • Parabola mechanical keyboards swag idea

  • CISOTOPIA toy store from WIZ

  • + a few bonus links at the end

Total pearusing time: 5min

Before we start a word from this week’s sponsor:

Wizard on Demand is a technical content marketing agency.

What they do is:

  • develop specific ideas for content that is loved by the readers and delivers results that you care about (signup, demo, trial, qualified sales pipeline)

  • write technical blogs, landing pages, case studies, e-books following an interview-based approach with your subject matter experts

  • design illustrations and diagrams to make the content look great and share well

  • distribute the content for you via SEO, paid search, and paid social (LinkedIn, Twitter/X) including ad copy and creatives

Unlike many other agencies, they optimize for your KPIs, get to know your product in detail to do that and combine paid and organic strategies to get you results.

They work exclusively with technical companies such as CircleCI, deepset, Appsmith, and AWS.

Watch a video about how they work, or Book a meeting with Oleksii Klochai (he is also in our community).

Developer marketing insights

1. CISOTOPIA toy store from WIZ

In this weeks episode of the pod I go over CISOTOPIA from Wiz.

I am just a huge fan of Wiz creative ideas overall. Ton of fun and good feeling towards company. Way before I even understood what they do (other then the target persona).

Anyhow they:

  • Create a fake toy store CISOTOPIA

  • Put a ton of items with chuckle-worthy security puns connected to toys/games

  • When you checkout you see you cannot buy it. It was all a joke ;) But you can leave an email and win one of these in a ruffle.

Just another fun, memorable campaign from Wiz. Also, I see a high “try this at home” potential for the fake store idea in my campaigns.

2. Dev tool ads examples gallery from Reo.dev

Folks from Reo.dev creates something really awesome this time. And since I know how much you enjoy my examples gallery I’d take a bet and say you’ll love this one too.

Ok, so this is their gallery of dev tool ads with 250+ examples from Buildkite, Posthog, Clerk and so many other awesome companies that it is hard to count.

A few of my personal favorites that I am planning to test out soon.

3. Parabola mechanical keyboards swag idea

Saw this post from Maya Spivak and loved the idea:

Nice mechanical keyboard with the “Enter” button swapped with the parabola logo in their brand colors.

I like that:

  • It is useful and useful swag is typically better. Everyone needs a keyboard. Everyone likes a good one.

  • It connects to the automation workflow that you are creating when you press it (and when you use parabola.ai).

  • It is delightful, gets a chuckle, has a potential to be reshared on socials.

Simple idea, nicely executed. And very reusable/adjustable for many dev tools.
